1. How can I contact or make an appointment at TriCAS?
Simply call either the Brockville or the Smiths Falls office and ask whatever questions you have or ask to make an appointment. Our Reception-Intake staff will speak with you to learn what concerns you have, will help connect you with any information or resources that might be helpful, will offer suggestions about managing any crises you may be facing, and will offer to schedule your attendance at a meeting to learn more about our services or to commence an assessment.

2. What happens at TriCAS' Orientation meetings?
Persons interested in learning about our services are invited to a meeting at which a staff describes our services, discusses other services available in the community, and offers interested participants at the meeting an opportunity to complete some questionnaires which help them identify goals they have for seeking treatment.

Usually 8 to 12 persons attend those meetings, but there is no requirement for participants to share any private information with each other. The steps to take to get enrolled in TriCAS' services are explained, and assessment appointments are offered to persons who wish to attend one.

3. What happens if I don't have any problems and am attending at TriCAS only because someone else wants me to go (like the court, a probation officer, a family member)?
Participation in TriCAS' services is voluntary, and TriCAS works with each person who attends in order to determine what concerns they may be experiencing in their lives.

If someone is unable to identify any concerns about which they would like to make some changes, or has no interest in attending the services that TriCAS provides, they can invite the person who urged them to go to TriCAS to meet with them and their counsellor, or they can simply let their counsellor know that they no longer wish to attend, or they can return to the person who encouraged them to go to TriCAS -- and review the reasons for that person's recommendations.

4. Besides my drinking or drug problems I also have some mental health problems. Does TriCAS provide counselling for both?
When calling TriCAS to enquire about its services or about making an appointment, if you tell the Receptionist -- Intake staff that you have a drinking or drug problem and have also been diagnosed with a mental health problem, or are taking medication, you may be referred to a counsellor at TriCAS who helps people with such co-occuring, or concurrent, problems.

5. Can TriCAS provide counselling about my gambling?
For youth or adults whose gambling has become a problem, TriCAS has staff with particular experience in helping them change or manage their difficulties.

6. What other addictions can TriCAS help?
Persons who are concerned about their excessive use of the Internet, their repetitive use of telephone sex lines, their excessive interest in pornography, their compulsive shopping, their difficulty in managing an eating disorder when they drink or use drugs, or other addictive, compulsive, or addictive behaviours may be able to benefit from TriCAS' services. All you have to do is call TriCAS to explore whether your circumstances might be helped.
